明治19年、フランスで建造した巡洋艦畝傍が、日本へ回航中に行方不明になり、その保険金で巡洋艦千代田をイギリスで建造するとともに、フランスでは水雷砲艦(通報艦)千島が建造されることになりました。

完成した千島は計画された速力が出ず、手直しに１年を費やし明治25年に日本へ回航されました。しかしその回航中、愛媛沖の瀬戸内海でイギリス商船と衝突して千島は沈没してしまいました。この事故は領事裁判権の撤廃問題と絡んで、日本の国内外を巻き込む政治問題へと発展します。

今回もデジタルで遊んでみました。スエズ運河を航行している場面です。デジタルには全然慣れてないので違和感甚だしいです。

In Meiji 19, the cruiser Unebi, built in France, disappeared while being ferried to Japan, and with its insurance money the cruiser Chiyoda was built in England, and at the same time in France a torpedo gunboat (notification ship) Chishima was to be built.

The completed Chishima did not reach the planned speed, spending one year on corrections, and in Meiji 25 it was ferried to Japan. However, during that ferrying, off Ehime in the Seto Inland Sea, it collided with an English merchant ship and Chishima sank. This accident, intertwined with the issue of abolishing consular jurisdiction, developed into a political problem involving both Japan domestically and abroad.

This time also, I tried playing digitally. It is a scene of navigating the Suez Canal. Since I am not used to digital at all, it feels extremely awkward.
