Her Zhuang Brocade is said to have originated during the Song Dynasty. It is renowned as one of the Four Great Brocades, alongside the Yun Brocade from Nanjing, Song Brocade from Suzhou, and the Shu Brocade from Chengdu.
Its design features distinctive geometric patterns and vivid colors, characterized by a bold, dynamic style and meticulous composition.
The Zhuang Brocade frequently uses cotton and silk threads, woven by hand.
Traditional Crafts
Traditional Instruments
The bronze drum is a percussion instrument invented by the Baiyue and Macau people in southern China, spanning a history of over 2,700 years.
Zhuang's bronze drum is considered a symbol of power and wealth.
Its surface is decorated with sun patterns and frog motifs, with painstaking detail that gives it high artistic value.
Over time, the bronze drum has become deified, regarded as a tool of the gods, and imbued with the power to ward off evil spirits.
Creation Myth
The Zhuang people have a legend called "How The Goddess Me Hoa Created Humans."
According to this legend, Me Hoa - The Flower Mother - separated heaven and earth and created humans from mud.
This story shares similarities with the Chinese myth of the goddess "Nüwa," who is also said to have created humanity.
Traditional Cuisine
Five-Color Rice uses glutinous rice in colors of black, purple, red, yellow, and white. This dye is made by soaking the rice in natural plant juices.
Cat's Back(?) Zongzi is a type of rice dumpling made from high-quality glutinous rice, green beans, and meat, offering a unique flavor.
Another noteable dishes include chicken innards and pork liver that are marinated in liquor; these are considered to have health benefits.

Artist's commentary
