Denier A standard unit of measure for the thread density of the material. Higher denier indicates thicker fabric and accordingly, greater heat retention. Typically, with regards to pantyhose and tights, 30 denier or less is considered sheer, while above 30 is considered opaque.

Run guard Designed to prevent any tears in the panty portion from running down into the leg portions. Take extra care when drawing these, as a common error is to depict them as not contiguous with the panty portion even though they typically are.
