Music Review through Manga

*bam bam da-da-da-da beep-boop-beep-boop da-da-da-da-da dzzzzzz beeeeep bam bam*

...whoa, what the heck is this?

That's Aphex Twin. You don't think it's any good?

No way. It's nothing but noise.

Nuh-uh Chi‑chan, this guy is awesome. He's a genius.

Huh? Really?

That's right, he's an idiot.

Yeah...he's a genius, but he's also an idiot.

That's right, he's an idiot.

Onee-chan, you keep saying that.

Take, for instance, our manga-turned-anime. What if we had had the opportunity to compose a different theme song for it?

I would've dropped by his house to ask him......

Richard's House

*Ding-Dong*

Hi! Who are you?

Richard

Richard! How about writing a theme song for our anime?

Sure!!

Huh? Really!? But I haven't even told you about it yet...

Wait right there! I'll go bring you a random track I'm not planning on releasing.

Hey, I asked you to write one!!

...it would've turned out like this, I guess.

Hmmm...I see.

Well, that's the impression I get.

The one you just heard was the first album of Richard's that Barasui ever heard... It seems like he became completely enamored with techno from that point forward.

Hmm... Not that I care...

But Richard hasn't put out any new songs lately...

...huh?

What is it?

Something very Richard-like is coming from outside... It sounds like a song I haven't heard before!!

*clang clang*

*da-da-da-da-da....* *woooot*

......it's just construction.

It sure is noisy.

No problem

Barasui made his debut with Ichigo Mashimaro in the magazines Dengeki Daioh and Dengeki Moeoh, after gaining attention through illustrations and self-published works. The series quickly caught readers' eyes with its delicate yet powerful drawing style, adorable visuals, and a starkly contrasting dark sense of humor.
He's an Aphex Twin freak, a title recognized by both himself and others. His work Ichigo Mashimaro is collected in multiple volumes (published by MediaWorks).
The latest Ichigo Mashimaro anime DVD, volume 4, is now on sale! Distributed by Geneon Entertainment.

A "pop" album by Aphex Twin, where cuteness, beauty, madness, and humor collide in a chaotic swirl. Released in 1996. A further step-up from his previous record ...I Care Because You Do, it marks the first fully realized form of the musical style that would continue through later works like Windowlicker and Come to Daddy. Tracklist includes Milkman, featuring Aphex Twin's own vocals.

Yeah...he's a genius, but he's also an idiot.
