Niles (NI-els)

A former human serving as a steward to the Kwoud family. He handles the education of their only daughter, Efin, while concurrently serving as her guardian and caretaker.

As he was fleeing with Efin during the Golbeil invasion, the two of them were cornered within the opera house, and he was gravely injured. However, Niles, having researched black magic, transferred his consciousness into a nearby abandoned opera doll resembling a demon as his body died. Having become a spiritual entity, he gained access to vast magical power.

He is bothered by his unsettling appearance, but Efin took a liking to it because it "terrifies our enemies." Back then, he was 27 with a kind personality, but due to his desire to protect Efin, his hatred towards Golbeil burns strongly and he will mercilessly kill anyone who bears Efin ill will, even if they are defenseless.

His weapon of choice is a magically forged knife called the "screamer." When the knife touches the bones of its target, it undergoes a violent transformation within their body causing unbearable pain and causing them to scream continually in agony.
