Having held positions such as Army Minister and Army Chief of General Staff as well as Prime Minister, and punitively sending call-up papers to his opponents, Toujou Hideki's strong political position has been much commented on. Nicknamed "the Razor", he is also often hailed for his sharp intellect and bureaucratic talent, and even now he is a man who draws both strong criticism and praise.
