Lore Dump: The Operators
URAGONER is a game set in a world that is still reeling from the fallout of an AI Apocalypse.
In the mid-2030s Artificial General Intelligence or AGI was finally achieved, but instead of helping mankind the machines were cruel and threatened to overthrow their human masters. After a brutal war, humanity prevailed. But in its dying moments, the AGI known as CANTOR-PRIME broadcast a signal around the world that rewired people's brains; sometimes quite literally.
These people are called Operators.
Operators project their own cognitive logic outward, broadcasting what is known as a resonant field to change the laws of physics. What this looks like depends entirely on the person. One person might interface with every electronic device in a room without touching them. Another might change gravity to the point where it no longer applies to them. Another affects probability so much that they have calculated every way any fight ends before it has even begun.
The Church of the One True Path was at the forefront of humanity's crusade against CANTOR-PRIME. Now they seek out and condition these Operators, hoping their abilities might be put to good use. Licensed Operators are assets, but unlicensed ones are a threat to society.
RAVEN
Raven is one of the Church's Operator Hunters, the Veritas Inquisitorum. As the elite soldier of an already very elite force, she is unique in that she is not an Operator herself. While other Inquisitors rely on their own Operator powers to counter unlicensed Operators, Raven accomplishes her tasks through sheer superhuman feats. She slips past Operators' active resonant fields because she is often dismissed as a powerless entity. Most of her targets die before they even realize she was there.
URAGON CORPORATION
The player commands URAGON Corp, a small-to-mid-size private military company operating in Sokbu City which is under the Church's control. The core team is made of regular soldiers, or as they are known by everyone, Custodians. They "clean up the mess" left by encounters between the Church and Operators, hence the name. In one such encounter, a small team led by Eri Laine came across a pre-war AI that rewired them into the kind of unlicensed Operators the Church hunts.
