Keine’s TerakoyaKeine’s privately run terakoya is situated on a corner lot among the shops and eateries in the Human Village’s commercial district. She purchased a townhouse that had long been vacant, renovated and made it her very own terakoya and her residence. (Her family home, from when she was still fully human before becoming a hakutaku, is located elsewhere within the village.)The building is constructed in a typical machiya style. Its kitchen and backroom, holdovers from when it was a shop, have been repurposed as the classroom. The former storefront now serves as a teachers’ lounge for when special lessons are held by invited lecturers such as poets or monks, and is also used to receive visitors such as parents.
