The Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka (Cherry Blossom) was a rocket-powered, single-pilot, suicide bomb employed by the Imperial Japanese Navy during late World War II. It was flown by kamikaze pilots.
Relatively simple to manufacture, and requiring only minimally-trained operators, this "rocket with a cockpit" was extremely hard to shoot down due to its very high speed. However due to its large size and limited range, the Ohka was usually carried into combat by the slow and large G4M bombers, which severely limited its effectiveness, as many G4Ms were shot down before being able to deliver the vehicle. Only seven American vessels are confirmed to have been damaged by Ohkas, of which only one was sunk outright (USS Mannert L. Abele). American soldiers nicknamed this aircraft the "Baka" (literally "idiot" in Japanese).
The Ohka features heavily in The Cockpit: Sonic Boom Squadron, which focuses on an Ohka pilot and the crew of the G4M delivering him.
