headshot

When a character's head is hit with bullets, arrow (projectile)s or other projectile weapons. Usually fatal or severely wounding unless the weapon is non-lethal, the head is protected or the victim can somehow regenerate health.

Do not confuse with a picture focused on the head (a portrait or upper body shot).
