cirno

Touhou character, "The Small Ice Fairy". Debuted as the Stage 2 boss of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and later a recurring playable character. She appears in Hidden Star in Four Seasons as a playable character, "Tanned Cirno."

An ice fairy living in the Misty Lake, near the Scarlet Devil Mansion. A relatively weak fighter, but nevertheless claims to be the strongest of all (somewhat justified, as fairies are low-tier generic enemies in the series). One of her hobbies is freezing frogs and watching them thaw (a third of which ends up shattering), leading doujins to portray her as at odds with the frog-themed goddess Moriya Suwako.

Her large ego and childish incompetence earned her the nickname "⑨" (pronounced "maru kyuu"/"nine-ball"), based on an "elements of play" screenshot from the game manual of Phantasmagoria of Flower View in which she was labelled 「9.バカ」 ("baka"/"idiot"). Another contributing factor to her portrayal as an idiot is her Icicle Fall spell card from Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, which (on Easy difficulty only) fails to hit a "safe zone" directly beneath/in front of her. Doujins also portray her as de facto leader of Team 9 (touhou), a posse of childish low-tier Touhou characters.

In Russian she is known as Сырно (Sɨrno), which literally translates as "cheesy" (in adverb form). In Finnish she is known as Sirkku (post #673220).

She has short blue hair with a blue hair bow, blue eyes, and wings shaped like ice crystals. Her outfit is a collared white shirt with puffy short sleeves, a blue pinafore dress, and a red bowtie. Sometimes she wears mary janes but just as often goes barefoot.
