cable_car
Other names: ロープウェイ, 索道
A form of transport where a vehicle, the car, runs suspended under a flexible cable or rope. The passengers are inside an enclosed cabin. Contrast with chairlift, which has open chairs for passengers; and suspension railway, which runs on a fixed track rather than a flexible cable.
