There were theories that it was just another regular rotation of the stars...But in the end, comets continued to inspire terror...at least until the time that Gensokyo's great barrier was put up.
I don't know how things are now, of course.But youkai are also surprisingly forgetful about the old days.
I doubt a theoretical explanation would do much to calm them down.If humans call it a disaster, then for non-humans it is the opposite.The tengu also seem to be enjoying themselves.
