A colloquial term for a game where one has to die multiple times in the process of completing it, learning from your deaths multiple times until it is "like carved into your soul". Original term in Japanese is "Dying Game", for games resembling what English speakers would call a "Soulslike". The TL has to take some liberties to make the term fit here without using the actual etymology.
