The secret was in mermaids

Once a year, the people of this land eat mermaids.

Thanks to that, everyone became immortal.

But even though mermaids were supposed to be food, it seems one boy fell in love with a mermaid.

That boy wanted to be the mermaid's lover

Everyday, he went to visit the tank where the mermaid was held

When that boy became an adult, the two of them fell in mutual love

But that year was the year when that lovestruck mermaid was meant to be eaten

The boy who became an adult... The lover of a mermaid...

He said that he would rather not be able to meet her than let her be eaten

He set her free into the ocean

The people of the land were enraged and killed the mermaid lover

The mermaid whose loved one was killed resented the humans and laid a curse upon them
