昭和20年3月、飛行第102戦隊は第百飛行師団隷下となる戦闘機隊で、稼働機40機をもって北伊勢より都城西飛行場へ進出。喜界島を中継基地として振武隊の援護作戦を実施する。4月6日の第一次総攻撃戦では
稼働機20機をもって振武隊援護のため奄美大島上空の制空戦闘に参加、敢斗した。

In March of the 20th year of the Shouwa era (1945), the 102nd Aviation Squadron became a fighter squadron under the 100th Aviation Division, and with 40 operational aircraft, they advanced from Northern Ise to Miyakojou West Airfield. Kikai Island is used as a relay base to carry out support operations for the Shinbutai units. On April 6th, with 20 operational aircraft, they participated in aerial combat in the skies above Amami Ooshima in the first major attack battle, bravely fighting to support the Shinbutai.
