In the age of legend, there was an enormous snake spanning over eight mountains in size.
It did battle with the gods, gripping the world in chaos and fear.
However—
A single man appeared.
He led the many nations...
Worked out a plan...
And so the snake's eight heads
were all cut off from the body.
A single head managed to escape.
It dove into the earth, created this cavern, and lay here for thousands of years.
That giant snake
was called Yamata-no-Orochi.
