With resisting youkai being the Hakurei shrine maiden's jobher existence kept the humans in check.Well, of course, this just made the youkai start to mutiny instead. One problem just followed another.
*sigh*
The shrine maiden was set up as a means to resist youkai, but her existence is also essential to maintain Gensokyo...In other words, to maintain this facade, we need to go easy and pretend to lose when fighting against her.Prouder individuals refused to accept such shame. Some would rather die out than do something like that, and decided to take the shrine maiden's life.Making a shrine maiden is different than other humans.
It takes some effort. As they kept on getting killed, rebuilding them again and again and again really started to get... tiring, you know?
