"Someday, Under a Bright Sky" Chapter 1 Extra 1: A certain day at the arts room
So you can't see colours...
You mean something like colour blindness?
I've heard it's surprisingly common. A friend of mine can't tell red and green apar...
That's...
probably deuteranopia. Taken from wikipedia: "Protanopia, deuteranopia, protanomaly, and deuteranomaly are commonly inherited forms of red-green color blindness which affect a substantial portion of the human population. Those affected have difficulty with discriminating red and green hues due to the absence or mutation of the red or green retinal photoreceptors."
My case is a bit... different.
Eh? Deute...?
It's different?
Well... it refers to people that have trouble discerning red and green from pink and gray, among other shades.
Apparently, it affects about 1 out of 20 males.
Many people believe that being colour blind means you don't see any colour at all, but
cases like me, truly unable to perceive any colour... are very rare. Cases like Aya are called Achromatopsia and affect about 1 out of 40,000 births.
Also...
the term "colour blindness" isn't used anymore, either. "色盲" has been recently replaced by "色覚異常". It's similar to saying "colour vision deficiency" instead of "colour blindness".
Eh!?
Is that so?
Yes... the word "blind" has a rather bad connotation, so
it's been replaced by terms such as monochromacy and dichromacy.
... I really don't know anything, huh...

Although it's a detour from the main story, this is also important.
One by one, we learn new things.
