You've all seen Maruyu's transport tube, but did you know it was cylindrical?Like this!Transport tubeDoesn't it look like a torpedo? The figure below illustrates the cylindrical shape of the transport tubes which were historically used.Reference: Complete Illustrated History of Imperial Japanese Midget SubmarinesSmall Type Transport Tube: 24.1m long, 58t cargo, 47t oilMedium Type Transport Tube: 33.1m long, 185t cargoLarge Type Transport Tube: 41.3m long, 375t cargoT-that's as big as me!Reference: Maruyu 2001 boat data
41.41m length, 24t cargoEven though submarines towing these tubes did secretly transport several hundred tons of material, the large type proved too big for them, so no more of these were made. The medium type was also slightly too big for frontline duty. And there's no record of Maruyu using them.As it happens I (Tatsuta) tested out the small model transport tube and found it to be too small to be practical! I wasn't the only one who used it, but it's probably a rare piece of equipment.Since I don't need this, do you want it?Thank you very much! I'll do my best to transport even more!

Even though submarines towing these tubes did secretly transport several hundred tons of material, the large type proved too big for them, so no more of these were made. The medium type was also slightly too big for frontline duty.
And there's no record of Maruyu using them.
As it happens I (Tatsuta) tested out the small model transport tube and found it to be too small to be practical! I wasn't the only one who used it, but it's probably a rare piece of equipment.
Since I don't need this, do you want it?
Thank you very much! I'll do my best to transport even more!
