In this battle without any air support, the crew on Yukikaze thought "well, this sure is gonna be our last time". In the end, Yamato sunk with a big explosion from a bombardment, other ships also sunk one after another. The last survivor of the 17th squadron, Isokaze, become immobilized and in the end was put out of her misery by Yukikaze's own gun.
