Media asset #1
Rough Green Snake
Origin: Eastern United States and Mexico Full length: 60 to 80 cm Diet: Crickets, worms, etc. Average starting cost of keeping, including equipment: ~¥18,000
An insect-eating snake. Snakes that eat things other than mice are called weird snakes, but this mainly refers to those that eat geckos and crayfish, and since insects are preyed upon by other reptiles, insect-eating snakes do not seem particularly weird.
Although it is arboreal, it does not coil around branches like other snakes, but rather they seem to lean against them, so it's better to arrange its habitat with thin twigs.
They also require ultraviolet light and calcium, so keeping them, is more like keeping lizards than snakes.

    Reptigirls: Colubridae edition

Snakes can be kept in basically the same way, so this time I've included the care instructions as a bonus. There are a lot of photos and stuff, so if you don't like that, be careful. I'll say it again: if you don't like snakes swallowing things whole, please be careful.

When it comes to Colubridae, I like San Francisco, rough and kunashir. Ribbon and Asian vine snake are also good, but weird snakes are a pain.
