1945年1月24日、タイランド湾、マレー半島東岸でヒ87A船団の「さらわく丸」を護衛中、米潜水艦ブラックフィンの雷撃を受け沈没。「呉の雪風、佐世保の時雨」と並び称された武勲艦であった。　　　　　うぃきより。
