End of the Rainbow by Hiroshi Yoshino

As the rain clears From between the clouds Many rays of sunlight stick into the earth Straight like dried noodles As we see Mt. Haruna loomin ahead of us In the bus climbing the mountain roads, we could see the end of a rainbow. We could see the rainbow quietly touching down Onto the upcoming field expanding within our sights. We could see it placing its slender feet onto the bare ground, The rainbow arch standing Lightly but surely into the sky! At the base of the rainbow Was a small village and a couple of houses Wholly embraced and colored. And yet no one is running out of their houses trying to touch the end of the rainbow. "Hey, your house is right in the middle of a rainbow!" The passengers reddened their faces Adoring the end of the rainbow standing from the bare ground. But odds are, we in the bus could see it, And those people in the village cannot. I suppose that is how it is Living happily Without particular surprise Within a happiness that others may see But they themselves cannot.
