Our country started developing "Ship-girls", the First generation, during the Great War. The war ended the same time as the developing of the Ship-girls was in progress, so they were left incomplete.

However, with the appearance of the Abyssal, they needed some kind of protection. They needed a large amount of Ship-girls to go against the Abyssal.

Since the requested technology was near completion, the First generation Ship-girls were quickly constructed.　Though the process is much faster now, compared to back then.

Such a thing changes the whole era. Shortland used to be a much calmer place compared to now, since the front line was in Kure and Sasebo.

Our mission, rather than fighting in the war, was mainly to supply and support.
