72 years ago today, Imperial Navy's 1st Air Fleet secretly gathered in Iturup, an island further north than even Hokkaido.(Drawn in 54 minutes.) In preparation for the pearl harbor attack. See here for their course. Iturup was the starting point.

When I was a child, whenever the snow has built up I would always build a Japanese Igloo together with my brothers and sisters. Kure, being on the Seto Inland Sea coast, rarely gets snow so we would have a field day when it snowed.

For the period before sortieing, everyone was free to do whatever they want. ......They were very independent in the first place so their spirits were sky high.

When it comes to Hokkaido it's all about the seafood! When my father toured there this summer, all the meals he ate were delicious. Makes you feel like you can run anywhere.
