Well originally the way of the cucumber (kyuuridou) was called natural studies (kyuuridou). As an art of the boudoir which studies nature, it can be polished up along with one's senshado. This whole page works on the pun of 胡瓜 (kyuuri, cucumber) and 究理 (kyuuri, laws of nature)

However, by doing that, she'll over and over encounter gentlemen who may not be able to hold onto their wits and they will be doubt for her chastity. If she receives injury while polishing her feminine ways all could be lost.

Therefore, as a substitute cucumber (kyuuri) was chosen for it's similarity to the word laws-of-nature (kyuuri) and in the present that's lead to the art becoming the way of the cucumber (kyuuridou). By changing to the use of a cucumber, kyurido has also become a very safe art.

But then, the girl with the biggest breasts will have the advantage...

You don't really understand kyurido, Takebe-dono. If it were just a matter of holding it between them, then breasts would undeniably be the most important. However, expression and attitude also matter. There's a demand for small breasts also! For someone in particular!
