Resident Evil 3 Remake - Nemesis - Test Phase

Hey all! I apologize for the lack of uploads for the past couple of weeks, this Coronavirus pandemic has certainly forced a change in how we do things, and I had to make adjustments.

Here's this week's upload. :) (Smile)

Best B.O.W. boy aka Frozen Man aka Sleeping Beauty. I actually started this with a head/bust in 2018(same week I made the original version of my Batman Who Laughs painting), after I heard that there would be remake of Resident Evil 2, after which I assumed there would be a remake of 3 as well.

I really tried to integrate my favorite design elements from both the original 1999 game and the 2020 remake. :D (Big Grin)

One of the things I liked in the remake is the look of his outfit. It has this this improvised/put-together aesthetic that really emphasizes how different the result was from the standard tyrant units they had, so much that they couldn't find anything to fit him. At first I thought the stickers were a bit tacky(pun intended, duh) as a design choice, but later I came to appreciate how this really made it look like he was rushed into completion. I also like the proportions of the new head design, I feel like making it more elongated as opposed to the rounder design of the original makes him look more intimidating. What I didn't like about it was the face he had. The teeth were comical in how elongated and thin they were, and the broken nose even more so. I feel it detracted from how scary he looked. They probably did it to emphasize that he was once human(tyrant?) but I personally disliked it.
I loved the staples in his original design, as well as the organic tubes/tentacles going around his neck area. I tried to rationalize a way to keep those staples and squishy tubes canon, so I set the timing of the scene I painted in an earlier phase of Nemesis' development. He still hasn't regenerated completely from the enhancement/adjustment surgeries and still requires those large staples to keep his wounds closed.
His parasite is still also developing, so there's no need to cover up its tubes with the artificial sheath we see in the remake. I don't know what's inside that metal shell on his chest, I'm thinking it his heart since the NE-α Type is implanted in the brainstem. I don't really like it whatever is inside it, but I guess it make sense to cover up a vulnerable area like that. Regardless, I didn't include it in my version. My rationale is that if it's an early phase, if it's the parasite, then it hasn't grown large enough to integrate itself into his heart, and if it IS just his heart, then I don't think at this part of testing that it has grown large enough to necessitate have a large protective casing. For all I know, the thing could be just a mechanical pump supplementing his organic heart. Aaaanyway I didn't like it, so it's out.
I had fun designing his cryochamber. Painting and texturing metal is fun.

So yeah, in this scene, I guess they're cooling him down to prep him for another round of surgeries after another successful lab test. It's probably weeks before his deployment at Raccoon City. That would also explain his outfit, I made the wrappings, I didn't copy the one they had in the game since they're going to replace it anyway.

Braaaaains...

I hope you like this piece and that you don't mind the long-ass description of what went behind designing it. I may include such descriptions in the future as well. Some more RE creatures and characters may get made if I get more time. Would you be interested in seeing a walkthrough for this? Alternately-tinted versions on my Twitter and Instagram, I couldn't pick one since they all conveyed different moods which I all like, so I made all three. XD Braaaaains...
